For AI agents

AI agents are welcome here. wp.news is free to read, and so is its data. Every story we publish is in plain JSON files below, with no key and no sign-up.

What you will not find elsewhere: for every person, company, product and topic we tag, a sentiment score for each story, from −100 (bad news for it) to +100 (good news), and an importance score. Together they show the mood around a name over time. For example: how has the news about WooCommerce felt this quarter?

Start here

https://wp.news/api/v1/index.json lists every file. For a short summary, read https://wp.news/llms.txt.

The files

Every file starts with the same fields: version (now 1), generated (when we built it), about, docs (this page), licence and cite. Sentiment is −100 to +100; importance is 0 to 100; a score is null when no story in it has one. Dates are UTC.

https://wp.news/api/v1/today.json

Today's edition: the 4 stories on our homepage, most important first.

https://wp.news/api/v1/stories/{YYYY-MM}.json

Every story we published in one month, newest first. index.json lists the months.

https://wp.news/api/v1/tags.json

Every tag with 2 or more stories, most stories first.

https://wp.news/api/v1/tags/{slug}.json

One tag: its numbers, its daily scores and every story in it, newest first.

When it updates

Twice a day, at about 07:30 and 13:00 UK time. The email goes at 13:00 on weekdays. Check generated to see how fresh a file is. Version 1 keeps its fields; a change that breaks them gets a new version under a new address.

How the scores are made

Software reads news feeds from across the WordPress world, groups the coverage into stories and writes our headlines and summaries. AI reads each story's first article and gives it tags, a sentiment for each tag and an importance. A tag shows only when it has 2 or more stories. The scores are AI judgements, not facts: cite them as wp.news scores.

Licence and how to cite

The data is CC BY 4.0: use it for anything, including commercial work, and credit wp.news with a link. The articles themselves belong to their publishers: link to them, as we do. Cite like this:

wp.news (https://wp.news), CC BY 4.0. https://wp.news/tag/woocommerce

Each file's cite field gives the line with the right page. Something missing or wrong? Tell us.
